A lot of people often underestimate
the purpose of deadlocks as part of the many doorlocks in the primary front
door of the house. If you suggest a homeowner to have deadlocks installed, and
they find it a source of stress, a good method to convince may be in the form
of a potential scenario.
We all know what burglaries and
illegal entries entail, and the effects to the household after such a scenario
takes place can be very devastating and sad. Why would anyone want to take
advantage of a newly bought LCD television set only to be stolen after 2 weeks
of using it? If you have the purchasing power to buy yourself electronics and
the latest in living room equipments, then you surely also have enough purchasing
capacity to beef up your home security. Including deadlocks as part of your
home’s security equation can do you a lot of good and you will realize it soon
enough.
Let’s say that the burglars got inside
your home by breaking the window glass in your living room or by opening a
garage door that you hardly ever close with a padlock. A good way to keep the
burglars contained inside your home while you are threatening them and calling
the police is to have a deadlock locked from the inside. A deadlock may seem
like a redundant concept to a lot of people, but the purpose of having a
deadlock that you need to open with a key both from the outside and the inside
is for much heightened security. Sure, the burglars have already seized all
your prized possessions such as your precious jewelries, computers, smart
phones, laptops and that LCD television you saved up for, but they cannot get
all those stolen belongings with them outside the front door because they cannot
open the door. Truly, deadlocks go by its literal meaning with the sole purpose
of saving you from being stripped off with all your hard earned possessions
just like that.
Of course, there is that danger of
being trapped or locked outside your own house if you misplace the keys to your
deadlocks. However, if you are conscious and you are cautious from being locked
out, you will find that deadlocks, apart from your other doorlocks, are there
for a very important reason. If there are rooms in the house that are off
limits to some people, a deadlock can come in handy. If you have a swimming
pool area outside your home and the deadlock goes to that area, you might want
to ensure that the deadlock is indeed locked to prevent your kids from basking
in the swimming pool area unsupervised. And when that time comes that you are
hassled by the mere presence of the deadlock because you are the only person
momentarily living inside and there is no imminent threat anyway, you can keep
the key to the deadlock attached to the lock as extra security while you sleep.
It just goes to show that when doorlocks and deadlocks are used for a very good
reason, it can be everything you need to save your life.
